20080906 CAMEROON.  Bush meat hunting is a way of life and the consumption of wild game is the only way many rural families can afford or have access to animal protein.  Here chldren play with the intestines of a small species of monkey shot for its meat by local hunters in Ngoilya, Cameroon near the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  After its arms and tail are cut off the fire and a piece of heated metal is used to preserve the meat and remove the hair.  This area is where researchers have confirmed HIV/AIDS originated through the hunting and consumption of wild game or bush meat particularly non-human primate species such as chimps and monkeys.
